I'm looking for a healthy carbohydrate source to eat during the day while I'm working when I'm out on the road taking care of customers. What I'm looking for needs to meet certain parameters.
1. The carbs need to be stored as glucose within my body. I all ready eat plenty of fruit. The problem with fruit is that a large percentage of the carbs are stored as fructose and can only be stored within the liver....excess fructose is converted to triglycerides.
2. The carbs need to be portable and easily eaten on the road with minimal prep. This takes something like oatmeal out of the equation.
3. Minimal processing is preferred, but some kind of cracker might work.
4. Most of the nutrition bars available would melt in a hot truck. The mess is unacceptable.
5. I want something that is low-glycemic
6. It can not contain chickory root or inulin...that crap should be outlawed.
Any suggestions or thought are appreciated.
