Does anyone know of any unconventional methods for increasing HDL cholesterol ?
I had my cholesterol checked yesterday and was somewhat disappointed.
My result :
Total Cholesterol 109.....down from 168 in Jun
LDL 68 down from 109 in June
Triglycerides 88 .....is normally around 50, but I did use GHRP 2 / MOD Grf that morning which increases lipolysis so there was probably a few extra fatty acids floating around in my blood.
HDL 23...down from 40 in June
Since June I've added 10 grams of fish oil daily to improve my Omega 3 index and was hoping it would increase my HDL as well...it didn't.
The people at the Costco health fair suggested I start taking a krill oil capsule. Honestly I fail to see how adding in another 2- 3 % more EPA / DHA ( if that even) to what I'm currently taking is going to make a difference, but they feel that it's a superior source of Omega 3's so I figured I'd give it a try for a few months. Personally I'm kind of thinking that the Krill Oil supplement company may be sponsering the Costco health fair.
As you can see from my results I've been doing what needs to be done to lower my bad cholesterol as it's decreased significantly. This was done 100 % through exercise and dietary changes...no cholesterol lowering medications were used.
I'm not sure how much better my total cholesterol and LDL can get, 109 total and 68 LDL is pretty low. I just want to increase my HDL. I've all ready been doing the cardio and dietary tricks to make it happen...it's just not working for me. Sure I can add more cardio, but I don't believe it would make a significant difference.
