How I Studied for C

dimanche 12 octobre 2014

Disclaimer: I am not associated with any study material companies, including the ones listed below. I do offer free tutoring for exams.

When I studied for C, I used pretty much every study material available in the market:

- TIA

- ASM

- Mahler + PEs

- Actuarial Empire

- Introduction to Credibility Theory

- Loss Models

It should also be noted that I have a strong statistics background: my undergraduate major was in statistics and I was a statistics tutor and teaching assistant when I was in school. I had already seen GOF, Kolmogorov-Smirnov, bias, MOM, and MLE (as examples) before I took this exam.

Of all of the study materials I used, I can say that by far, TIA was the best resource that I used for studying this exam. For those of you who know how I study, this is surprising to hear from me, a person who honestly HATES learning through videos. I used to think that videos were just not for me, until I tried TIA for C.

Dave teaches the concepts of this exam with extreme clarity. I also VERY much appreciated his comments from a statistical viewpoint, especially pointing out differences between the official text and statistics (and then, I would get out Casella and Berger :) ).

Originally, I intended on using TIA as a supplement to Mahler's manual, and as I told a few of my peers, I wish I had used TIA from the start.

So, if you want to learn this material quickly and clearly, get TIA. I cannot recommend any other study resource more than TIA for this exam.
