"Let X be a Poisson random variable with mean lambda: If P(X = 1 given X <= 1) = 0:8;what is the value of lambda?"
I don't really want the answer to this (unless I get too frustrated, lol), just wondering if I am on the right track.
I did conditional prob. with A = (x=1) and B= (x <= 1). So have P(A given B) = P(A)/P(B) which = .8
So then I end up with (lamda *e^-lambda)/(e^-lambda + lambda*e^-lambda) = .8
Which of course leads me to manipulating e in ways I have forgotten. Lol :)
