So, this supposedly high visibility plum assignment goes to a brand new Iowa senator? I'm trying to figure out what this means.
My current guess is that it shows the irrelevance of the SOTU - hardly anybody watches it*, and even fewer people watch the response.
But, I'm open to other theories.
*My apologies to those on the AO who watch it, although I know in many cases it's just to count the number of occurrences "let me be perfectly clear".
