I apologize upfront if this has been mentioned before. I have done some reading and did a small search, but did not see it mentioned before (although I'm sure it's there and I just haven't found it!).
Background: I have a BS in Electrical Engineering, and a Master's of Natural Science (mathematics). I have been teaching HS Math for 8 years and I am looking to change careers. I have just now started studying for exam P with plans to take it in April/May.
Question: For a career changer/EL applicant, what preliminary job would you recommend searching for that would help me gain skills to be an actuary? Something that might help me get my foot in the door and also help me gain knowledge in the field? Or what would be a great way to get experience with some of the software programs (like SQL)?
Where and how did you get started?
Should I be intimidated that I don't know much about business? I am confident that I can do the math needed to take the exams and I actually enjoy a combination of work/schooling/testing preparation.
