Has anyone else seen the Hubble deep field and wondered?

vendredi 26 décembre 2014

There are close to a trillion galaxies within 13 billion light years of us, that we can see. Who knows what is further away, or what it would be like to zip around out there.

Every wonder what civilizations have risen and fallen over the last billion years? As much as I marvel at the cosmos, there is only so much up there we can ever hope to see, and so much diversity right here on this planet that we can see up close. As hazy as the skies are, maybe I should get a microscope instead of another telescope.

That is a section of the sky the size of your pinky finger nail with your arm outstretched. It is taken from an area where there are not too many stars from our own galaxy blocking the view. I think the redder ones are moving away from us, and the bluer ones are coming towards us. The Andromeda galaxy will pass through ours in another 2.5 billion years.
