Hello, Forum. Good to meet you all.
Alright, so...here's the deal:
I'm about to graduate with my Bachelor's after 7 years of undergrad school (had to go part-time, changed majors, etc.) During that time, I've had many jobs. Grocery clerk, call center rep, retail sales, even an engineering firm doing data entry. A total of 8 jobs. If you've ever been to college, you know how difficult it is to keep up with school work, work your minimum wage part-time job, and do extra things like volunteering. Many of these jobs I've had to leave simply because I couldn't survive on $7.25/hr, 30 hours a week.
I'm about to go for an internship at an oil company doing clerical work: filing, data entry, etc. They want a resume. I've never built one. Frankly I'm afraid my 8 jobs will give me a huge disadvantage against the other applicants. My question: do employers understand that job-hopping during college is sometimes necessary? I know some students get a job and are able to stick with that job until they graduate. I have not been so fortunate.
How should I build my resume considering my work history? This is the first time I'm creating a resume, so any other unrelated advice is more than welcome, too. Thank you.
