Jewish refugees from Arab and Islamic countries

lundi 1 décembre 2014

The Israeli government passed a resolution to make November 30th a day to commemorate the Jews who were forced out of Arab and Islamic countries after the state of Israel was founded.

After the founding of Israel, over 850,000 Jews were expelled from their homes in Arab and/or Islamic countries, in response to Israel's creation. In comparison, it's estimated that 700,000 Palestinians left Israel (although it's unknown how many left on their own vs. being forced out.)

While the world has been largely sympathetic to the Palestinians, nobody seems to remember the fact that more Jews were displaced than Palestinians. The likely reason is because Israel was willing to take in the Jewish refugees, while nobody wanted the Palestinians.
