I made a thread a few months ago asking for advice on purchasing a good "entry level" bass guitar, and I settled on the Fender Squire Jazz Bass. Long story short, I've fallen in love with the instrument and progressed to the point where I've started jamming with others.
A few of my friends have suggested that I upgrade, that the J bass isn't a performance level instrument or is too easily recognizable as a "newbie bass". I've looked around at a few guitar shops, and for the most part I can't find a bass that sounds like it's worth dropping lots of money. The sounds are "different", but I like the brightness that the J Bass has.
Anyways, any guitar experts on the AO want to chime in? Is it worth it to consider upgrading if I like the sound the J Bass makes, or are there better version of it that are worth dropping $500 or so on?
