2015 AOF Baseball Draft Thread

Welcome to the AO Fantasy Baseball 2015 Draft!



All draft picks must be made in this thread. The below spoiler contains a few notes about draft etiquette (deadlines, drafting over weekends, proxies, reminder to PM the next 3 owners after you make your pick , trading during the draft):

Deadlines – The draft schedule simply lists the deadline for each pick to be made. A draft pick can be submitted prior to that deadline. In fact, the first draft pick is usually submitted shortly after keeper submissions have been published, days prior to the scheduled start of the draft, and deadlines rarely if ever come into play. Please keep an eye on the progress of the draft so that you're prepared to make your selection when the time comes.



Drafting over weekends – While the draft schedule has deadlines only on weekdays, members of the league tend to check in on the weekends during the draft. If possible, please let us know on Friday if you will be unavailable to draft over the weekend (or leave a proxy list with another owner...see below).



Proxies - As the draft progresses, you may notice that you’ll be unavailable to log on to the AO during a stretch of time when your pick is likely to go on the clock (maybe you’ll be out of town or simply stuck in a meeting for a while). In such instances, please consider sending a list of players from which to make a proxy selection to one or more other owners, so that the draft can continue in your absence. At a minimum, please communicate your planned absence to the league so that the rest of the owners can plan accordingly.



Communications – When you make a draft pick, do so with a post in the current season’s draft thread, making sure to include the player’s first and last name, position, and major league team. Once you make a draft pick, please notify, by PM, the next three managers in line to draft, anyone who’s been listed as a proxy drafter for those managers, and if, and ONLY IF, you are uncertain who goes next, the next leader of the free world, your commish, The Arbitrary .



Trading during the draft - Trades are allowed during the draft, but they should not slow down the draft. Any shopping around of your pick or of a player to be picked (i.e., a "sign and trade") should be done before it is your turn to draft.

The first official selection slot is Monday, March 9 at 10:00 AM ET, but we're planning to kick things off at noon of Monday, March 2... mostly to give tometom another couple hours to trade away 1.02. Once you've made your selection, please PM the next three owners so that we can keep things moving . The player universe is locked and can be found in Drafty. If any other players were added since Friday afternoon... tough, they probably suck anyway.



The draft board will be kept in post 2 and will be updated periodically, along with the attached draft spreadsheet, so that you can see who is available. I will also try to add players to rosters on Yahoo as we go along, but this thread (and Drafty) will likely be your best source for up-to-date info at any point in time.



Should a selected player be picked again (it has happened a few times every draft so far) it is likely you'll get a :redcard: emoticon with a PM to try again. If you select a previously taken player and the next owner picks without realizing you took a :qunq:bad player:qunq: his pick will stand. Though if you do know a bad player has been taken, it's best to comment on it rather than sneak in and take the top guy on your board.



Again, please make only picks in this thread - keep the smack talk in the chat thread. :)
