I'm unlikeable and need help

After numerous interactions with strangers, I've come to the realization that I may be unlikeable. It seems that in one on one conversations people always try to be the first to break off the conversation and I'm left standing there like a moron. This always surprises me because the person seems to laugh and enjoy talking with me - then they look for the first chance to exit.



I always thought I am pretty good at reading people - I'm certainly not aware of any annoying mannerisms. I don't correct people or interrupt and normally offer a few jokes that make them laugh. And yet I always leave the conversation thinking I fugged up somewhere to make them want to leave.



How can I figure out what is wrong with me in order to try and correct it?
