Hi,
I would really appreciate it if a few people could look at my resume that is attached and critique it.
Here is a little bit of background about myself. I am currently a high school math teacher who has been teaching for 8 years and is looking to break into the actuary field. I originally thought about becoming an actuary back in 2010 when there were massive layoffs in education including myself. At the time, I took and passed Exam P and started applying to both education and actuary jobs left and right in order to pay the bills. However, as you know the economy was horrible at that point. Almost immediately after I passed Exam P, I got a new job at another high school which caused me to stop studying for Exam FM since I was basically a first year teacher again and trying not to drown. Then about 2 years ago, I was assigned a dual role of Data coordinator for the school and math teacher. This caused me to start working with Excel a lot and solving problems, which rekindled my interest in the actuary field especially since there are a lot of drastic changes in education at the moment. As a result, about a year ago I started working on getting VEE credit for economics, teaching myelf basic SQL, Access, and Visual Basic. I also have taken and passed Exam FM and I'm currently studying for MFE.
Any advice is welcome.
Thank you.
