I can't find the thread about this Maryland couple where were in trouble before about letting their kids walk the neighborhood.

The kids (10 and 6) were noticed walking alone and someone called the cops. The cops called Child Protective Services who had investigated the parents before and "the Meitivs were notified that a finding of unsubstantiated neglect had been made" and it would be kept on record for 5 years.
The kids had been told to be home by 6pm. When they weren't the parents went out looking for them. Neither the cops nor CPS notified the parents until 8 pm.
Another article I read about it quoted a lawyer saying the parents should sue the cops and CPS for harassment first for taking the kids and then for not contacting them for 3 hours when they knew whose kids they were.
I think the cops and CPS should get slapped around a little for that. I am not sure exactly how I feel about the parents yet.
Kids regularly walk up to a mile to our neighborhood school. And I have seen kids as young as 5 walking down the street after school seemingly unaccompanied though there were other kids and parents in the vicinity.
