So for people who haven't seen It Follows, but don't mind the premise being spoiled and like engaging in monster movie logistics, the basic idea is this:
-There is a monster/demon that is always coming for you. It never moves faster than a brisk walk. The movie doesn't give numbers, but I'd say its top speed is around 3MPH.
-It is extremely strong
-It is fully coporeal, although it is invisible to anyone who hasn't been afflicted with the curse.
-It seems to place some value on not being detected by people who can't see it-it will walk around people on the street instead of pushing them aside, for example. But it's not a very strong preference, it will push people who directly get in its way.
-To you, it may appear as any human, so it is possible you won't know it's upon you until it's too late. However, in the movie it's super conspicuous, and seems to care more about freaking you out than about blending in and sneaking up on you.
-If it catches you, it will kill you. It may or may not do so right away, but it will immediately start beating you up.
- You can pass the curse on to someone else by sleeping with them (and they can do likewise, and so on), BUT if the monster catches and kills that person, it will start coming for you again.
-Shooting it in the head will stun it for at least a few seconds. (Also maybe its blood isn't invisible? That was kind of unclear)
So, given all these conditions and constraints, what's the optimal strategy for not dying? My husband and I have been discussing it for a few days now, and I thought it might make a fun AO thread.
(The characters in the movie, very frustratingly, are never seen doing basic math like "Well if it moves 3MPH and we drove 150 miles away to my dad's lake house, that should buy us about two days, everyone set your phone alarms". The only strategy mentioned is "passing it on", which is dumb because the monster's just gonna kill that guy and now you have no way of predicting when it's coming back for you.)
