Statistics Major skills and real job

How much of the skills would you say an undergrad stat major at a large state uni is used on a real job? Say one also has an extensive skill set of using SAS. Does 50% or more of the skills needed for a job happen on the job? Or, do to the unique nature of a stat degree...are you approx 75% equipped with the skill set before getting a real job?



Reason I ask is because I want to feel like I am learning and able to apply something NOW...rather than later on the job.
