This is an open-ended question. I'd like to hear the responses because I think this is relevant to many people working in P&C. Let's say your manager wants you to take a look at the data for XYZ subsidiary with the vague objective of "find something that can be of use to the business heads."
Two of the things you have at your disposal are your suite of statistical tools (R, SAS or other similar software/languages) and a large relational database that has anywhere between 1,000-10,000 tables.
