I've noticed that some of the resumes on here list the level at which they are proficient in skills like excel, access, SQL and so forth, like proficient, familiar and so forth. I've thought about this and wondered if this is really necessary or even somewhat vague? Like if I listed I am proficient in excel, how exactly can an employer interpret that? The type of skills to be considered "proficient" by one employer can be completely different to what another employer considers as proficient. Given this, I feel just listing the technical skills themselves would suffice, as before when I would just list them, I would be asked what I knew to do with the program/skill when doing a phone/in-person interview.
