Many of you who know me and read my posts have heard of the struggles I've had with my 15 year old son. His mother took him out of school to home school him two and a half years ago. I never agreed with the homeschooling and have been very frustrated with it over the past few years. My son was spending 1 1/2 hours per week or less doing school work and only during the regular school year as that's the schedule they decided to follow. He really hasn't done much of anything for 2 1/2 years. His education has suffered greatly during that time. He hasn't done any math simply because his mother couldn't help him with math beyond the 6 th grade level.
Last week he called me and said he'd had it with his mother and wanted to come live with me full time. I really don't know what he's upset with his mother about, but it's really irrelevant at this time. The first thing I told him was that I would not be home schooling him. He would have to go to school. He said he was fine with that. I talked to his mother and she agreed with me registering him for school in the school district I live in. I registered him but figured he'd change his mind and want to back to his mother's house before school started.
I took him to school today for the first time in 2 1/2 years. He did great !!! He made some new friends and came home with two girls phone numbers.
He actually made it through a full day of school and was happy about it.
As long as I can keep him there he should be able to graduate in 3 1/2 years with a regular HS diploma.
