Parallel Universe: NM Photographers fined for "insufficiently artistic" photographs!

jeudi 5 février 2015

The New Mexico Human Rights Commission has ordered a couple of avant-garde, yet Christian photographers to pay $6,600 for declining to photograph a commitment ceremony between two lesbians in a sufficiently-flattering way.

Quote:

The complaint against Elane Photography was filed by Vanessa Willcock, one of the two women in the union.

Elane Photography is small photography studio owned by Jon and Elaine Huguenin, a husband-and-wife team who are avant-garde photographers and did not shoot Vanessa Willcock in a sufficiently flattering classical light.

The commission's two-paragraph order stated that "Elane Photography, LLC shot Ms. Willcock out of focus, not in centre, with insufficient lighting, and even tilt-shifted, thus discriminating against [Miss [SIC] Willcock] because of sexual orientation."

This was absolutely the right decision by the NMHRC. Avant-garde bigots like this need to be punished, and the best way to do that is to hit them in the wallet.

This is all about equal rights, and human rights.
