Apparently for those of you who do have iphone 5 or later versions, you probably are familiar with these health apps that ios8 introduced.
Well end of next month, a new Apple product is coming out called an "Apple Watch". This product allows you to send your heart rate via your wrist ...to any contact. You can speak to anyone by voice or message by tapping your watch on the wrist, play any song from iphone onto the watch
But then the wrist bands they are making in fancy metallic magnetic fits that run anywhere from $349 - $15,000 US dollars?
Will people actually pay $15,000 for this on the wrist?
My belief is this product's longterm potential has no bounds, but this is because of third party app developments that use the human wrist to extract data about everything you do every day and how it affects you. But these take years to create and the product has to come before the developers can make use of the product itself. In the short-run, my fear is the product will not catch on so by the time the apps come around, the whole thing will need to be re-marketed.
My very own app if engineered for Apple watch, would tell you how much longer until you will sunburn or tan. (I have this already in excel)....but in my version you have to input your skin type, the weather, the altitude/terrain, your hometown or a place on earth that you are interested in testing on. My program uses the computer task bar clock and the NOW() excel function and vlookups all town latitudes/longitudes, then some astronomical sine/cosine functions, UV data by wavelengths 290 to 400 nm, analysis for spf lotions based on the 8 main sunscreen chemicals octinixate, Octisalate , Octocrylene, Homosalate, oxybenzone, avobenzone, zinc oxide, titanium dioxide, ...I can tell you stuff like how badly you will burn if out in sun at sun and such a time, without spf or otherwise by sunscreen you apply, also by how you apply it ....also my program models ozone and albedo, and estimates human behavior changes in utilizing sun when wearing lotion vs not
But The Apple watch could use the photo lense to get your skin type, the GPS to get your location, weather app, and time you are outside based on a formula that assumes outside temperature = watch thermometer temp when you are outside, and light censor for when in shade Vs outside...concludes how long you've been sun exposed
But I think in the short run the Apple watch potential would be too underutilized for the price to make it worth people's desire to buy this for the wrist.
