Experiences with the Clergy

Should I go to lunch with this dude?

Expecting mixed opinions on this one...

I had a traditional wedding ceremony so that the older generation (my/her grandparents) could experience and enjoy it. So, I needed to use a church for a day. Seemed simple enough to me, so we asked my in-law's Pastor if we could have it there. She required us to have 3 or 4 counseling sessions with her which I reluctantly accepted. We also agreed on a small donation to the church. By the 3rd one my wife and I agreed I would no longer talk, as the pastor was talking at us like were 15 year olds. She was trying convince us that we were so stupid that we needed to join her church so she could guide us through life. During the sessions my wife chose the verses to read and specifically chose short verses that had the least mention of god/Jesus. Day of the wedding, the pastor took me and the best man aside and said we had to wait in the back while guest were seated. She stuck us in the day care room. We said 'nuts to this' and went out to great our guest. When confronted by the pastor we pretty much said 'deal with it'. She must have had enough of our BS (we had some words during the rehearsal as well) and proceeded to read many long winded god/jesus heavy verses at the ceremony. I actually didn't notice since I wasn't listening, but my wife was pissed. So pissed that she forget to mail her the donation check. We never talked to her again.
