Specifically, the death of a grandparent
The grandma died in this family we know. It was really sudden (grandma was only in her 70s, had a stroke, died within a day). She used to come over once a week, did stuff with the grandkids, etc
Anyway, one of the grandkids, who is 10 years old, is in denial that granny died. He can't deal with it at all. I don't think the younger kids have a strong reaction, but maybe they're just less verbal about it.
Anybody here have experience with this kind of thing?
I've had experience of close relatives dying suddenly as a kid, but not with a kid totally denying that a relative has died. The kid's mom is at a loss (granny was her MIL, btw) and looking for advice.
