I'm working through the Actex Study Manual and I can't understand how the book is solving this problem. It is number 16 in problem set 10. It asks for the expected payment given that the deductible is 1000. However instead of the integral being (x-1000)(.5003e^-x/2), they have placed the 1000 outside of the integral and the integrand is now (x-1)(.5003e^-x/2). The limits of integration were also changed from 0,15 to 1,15. If anyone could explain why they did this I would really appreciate it!
