Feedback Thread for Downton Abbey EC Game

mardi 7 avril 2015

To facilitate easy (easier?) retrieval of feedback, I'm starting this thread.

For the DA EC game, I tried out several ideas to see how well things played out. I'll summarize the major ideas and processes I was intending to try to see what would (or would not) work.

Thanks in advance for feedback.

  1. J.T. actually hit on a sore point I've also had for EC games . . . if you're new to the game, but have zero role to play, you lose interest very quickly. To this end:

    • I set up roles so that everyone would have some "power role" at some point in the game.

    • To also avoid potential :tfh: by noobs, I also set things up so that players were paired with someone they knew was on their own team.

    • Gave out directives (Daily Tasks)--For the IS, this was to help give noobs a sense of what should be done early on in the game. For the EC, tried to give some clues so that they could start finding each other (more below). I know that this is one area I can improve on; I have my own thoughts in this space, but would like additional feedback.

  2. The EC started the game not knowing each other. The vote mechanics here would've been for each pair to PM me their vote; then I'd send out a list of who has been voted on and collect a second (and final) vote. Note that the game set up indicated that Thomas would not know the other known EC players.

  3. rekrap was a late addition . . . he did ask after I made the cut off and had players assigned roles and partners. So I added him as a solo player (he knew this, too). His status was not known to him in advance (apart from what role he'd play for a given cycle). I had intended him to have a four-term cycle of IS--EC--EC--IS (then repeat this for Cycles 5-8, if necessary).

  4. Allowing multiple Evictions during the Day. I had hoped that IS would be allowed to return later on would at least encourage an initial push to Evict two players at a time.

These were the key plot points I was hoping to incorporate in the game. Let the slaughter begin! :judge:
