I'll start off with my background info (resume is also attached)

Exams

P, FM, MFE

Education

Graduated 2011 - UCLA

Major - Biochemistry

GPA - 3.16

Work Experience

Fashion industry - general & import manager 2 yrs. (e-commerce web developer .5 year)

Insurance Agency Underwriter Assistant (Current Position) - 1 rr.

Skills

SQL, Microsoft Office including Access, Basic VBA & SAS, P&C Agent & Broker Licensed

I have been working in unrelated industry after graduation due to my visa issue. So after getting my green card I have been looking for some career advancement opportunity. And my friend introduced actuarial field. I have passed three exams so far and have stopped taking exam because I heard passing more than 3 exams before any experience can lower your chances of getting a job.

I have been working as an assistant underwriter at local agency for about a year now and applied for openings ever since I passed my second exam but I have not gotten a single interview nor follow up calls.

I figure that there are somethings fundamentally unattractive about me at this point... (GPA, Major, Experience... etc.)

So I was wondering if doing something will improve my chance to at least pass first screening. In my guess options I have are…

1. Pass SAS Base Certificate

2. Take another Actuarial Exam and pass

3. Go back to School and get masters in Statistic or something (with better GPA of course)

4. Just keep applying for the opening whenever I see one.

I was wondering if doing any of these will get me passed the initial screening. if possible, I want to put going back to school as my last option since I will have family to take care of starting next month.
