New to the Industry

I was recently hired into the modeling department of a major life insurance company. As an EL, I spent the previous year and a half in pensions, and would like to get a better understanding of how my new industry works. Outside of the propectuses of the products my company offers, what resources are available that will give me better practical knowledge of how this industry works?
