Pay $140 to have driving offense dismissed

jeudi 9 octobre 2014

My wife got a speeding ticket (32 mph in a school zone). Apparently you can pay a fee of $140 (in addition to the citation), take a drivers ed course of some kind, and the ticket won't appear on her record which, I assume, means it won't impact our insurance rates.

Of note, she was in a small fender bender about a month ago, 100% her fault. That was reported to insurance.

I'm not really sure how such offenses are taken into consideration wrt to premium by our carrier (USAA if that helps). Does the fender bender alone jack up the rates such that the ticket really doesn't matter? Or would having a second issue make things that much worse such that paying the $140 is the better way to go.

I thought about calling USAA and just asking but I'm not if telling them about the ticket is wise.
