I go to SFU and I've met people who place a really high value on material things and money. People who like shopping and buying expensive clothes, girls who love make up and handbags, people who love going to fancy restaurants, blah blah blah. People tell me that it's just the way things are.
So I am curious about the degree to which people in the actuarial community value these things because none of it seems real to me and it's confusing. I don't give a crap about what someone is wearing.
