Career Change after Quitting

dimanche 21 décembre 2014

Hi everyone,

I recently quit working as a PMA for a large insurance firm. I quit on the spot with no backup plan or even a particularly good reason for quitting. I guess you could chalk it up to depression.

I believe I am better, and I am looking to change careers and become an actuary. I'm scheduled to take the FM exam in February, and I figured my prior insurance experience would help me transition.

At this point, what else would make me a good candidate? I'm trying to find an internship that's in some way related to data analysis, but otherwise I'm not entirely sure what the best move is at this point.

Any advice would be appreciated.

P.S. I understand that there's a sticky thread related to career change, but I did not see anything in there about people who impulsively quit, or who are starting to look for jobs at the start of a new year.
