POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for actuarial services in support of Student Health and Voluntary Comprehensive Medical product offerings, including rate filing and other regulatory compliance, pricing, reserving and forecasting support. The actuarial team works closely with other functional areas, including sales, client services, operations, etc.
Fundamental Components:
This individual will supervise a small team of actuarial staff in support of Student Health and Voluntary Comprehensive Medical. Responsibilities include:
- Prepare Student Health rate filings; working with regional staff to submit filings and respond to questions.
- Conduct experience studies and work with valuation staff to review reserves monthly.
- Forecast results for business planning in collaboration with finance staff.
- Conduct actuarial value testing for Student Health plans, working directly with underwriting, sales and client services.
- Support experience analysis and pricing work for Comprehensive Medical Voluntary plans.
This individual will work closely with other functional areas, including underwriting, finance, sales, client services, claims, and member services. They will be exposed to the product offering end-to-end, gaining a clear understanding of everything from regulatory impact to operational implications.
BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE desired:
Experience pricing comprehensive medical insurance, preferably including individual, group, manually rated and experience rated business.
Strong analytical skills and ability to drive questions to conclusion.
Strong communication skills: experience relaying technical information to non-technical audiences.
7+ years related work experience. MAAA required.
EDUCATION
The highest level of education desired for candidates in this position is a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

Actuarial/Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) is desired
