Non actuarial position path

vendredi 5 décembre 2014

I currently have two positions offered from two different companies. One as data analyst (constantly working with excel, access, data mining, communicating with different departments, generally working with heavy loads of data) then I have Underwriting Assistant position (check claims on accounts, run web reports, analyze loss ratio, general underwriting work, etc.)

I am currently studying for MFE, but I cannot land an actuarial position so I'm planning to pass more exams while working at a full time position that will be beneficial in the future.

The reason why I am hesitating is because if I work as a data analyst, based on the co worker, you have to work very long hours time to time, giving me less time to study, the manager can be very strict and yell at the co workers, the money is good, gives me an opportunity to strengthen my technical skills such as excel and access.

Underwriting Assistant position is for a company where I have been working for awhile so job security is good, less money, and work hours aren't as strict so it gives me more time to study, but I don't use as much excel and access.

I was wondering which position might be beneficial for an actuarial position in the future and which would be a good choice.
