I have a non compete agreement with my current employer. I am not sure of the terms (3 years maybe), but let's say I leave my company for another job. After I start my new job, I update my linked-in profile to reflect my new position with my new company. When I do this, linked-in will generate an email to all my connections asking them to congratulate me on my new job. I have several clients as connections on linked-in, so this could be a problem? I would not contact them explicitly, since that would violate my agreement, but how do I avoid them finding out? Remove them from my network? Not update my profile for 3 years?
I have strong relationships with several clients and I am sure they would be disappointed to not have me on their account anymore. Obviously they will find out I am gone eventually, and I cannot control them reaching out to me. However, contact through social media could be an issue. Anyone else have experience with this?
