Hi Everyone!
I just need some advice on what to do in regards to my future. I have 2 classes left to graduate with a B.S. in Actuarial Science. I am currently enrolled in 1 class and debating on enrolling in the other class. If I enroll, I graduate in May and if I don't, I graduate in December.
The only reason I would want to graduate in December is because I would be eligible to apply for some summer internships since a lot require you to be a student while interning. I know a lot of the larger firms already have their interns for the summer but there are still some good ones out there. I would have 1 class left in the fall so I'm sure I could apply to some entry level positions after my summer internship (that is if I was to get one) and tell them that I can work full time since I only have one class and I'm taking it in the evening.
I currently have a spring actuarial internship for small/mid-size insurance firm but more than likely I won't be offered a full time position since the outlook of the company is not so great. Plus, I would want to work somewhere else, perhaps a larger firm. I have 3 exams passed and plan in taking another in June. However, my GPA is < 3.0.
What do you guys think? Should I just go ahead and graduate in May and compete in the EL market? I will graduate with 3 exams and an internship.
...Or should I wait until December and try to get a GOOD internship in the summer (where hopefully I might be offered a full time position). In this case, I will graduate with 4 or 5 exams and 2 internships.
I would like to get you guys' opinion. Sorry for the long post.
