My "CHAT" with Microsoft today

I believe there should be a law that for any recurring subscriptions I should have to "OK" the charge before it can go through....

I currently have Xbox LIVE

-- which I keep trying to cancel and they make me speak to a representative where I always manage to not have the information I want for them to cancel my account

AND HOME MSOffice

-- Which I would like to keep and renew my annual subscription



So I spend 30 minutes online trying to update my method of payment and cancel the XBOX Live while keeping MSOffice.

This is unpossible. I was unable to change my payment option for MSOffice without it also changing my information for Xbox Live. (Which as mentioned I have tried to cancel several times)



I finally get on CHAT today with 'Carla'.

She asked what she could help me with. I explained (in unhappy terms) that I wished to cancel my Xbox Live and pay for MSOffice.



-- This was 2 minutes after getting a message that she was reviewing my question.



Carla: I am currently reviewing your concern and it seems you are encountering difficulties with your Xbox Live membership is that correct?



Me: Yes .. I do not want it



Carla: Well fully understand, I am here to check your account for me to be able to give resolution for this one. In case I need to disclose account information.



Me: Why is this so difficult?

Me: Cancel my Xbox Membership



Carla: I do apologize and have to get some information from you to make sure I am signing into the right account.



Me (Now I'm really pissed): I have things to do and am at work, you have my account information I needed it to sign in.



Carla: Yes I understand Sir



Me: Obviously you don't.



Carla: Just in case, I may need to have your MS account please.



Me: (I've played this game before they just keep asking questions)

If you can't figure out who I am I will simply cancel all payments and go download MSOffice from torrent.



Carla: Alright let me go check your account first



Me: OK nevermind, I'm going to cancel all my accounts if you can't figure it out. If you can figure out a way to cancel my Xbox Live membership and keep my MSOffice one I'll do that otherwise I'll just cancel both.



(This was now 8 minutes of chat ....... I decided to go to lunch and leave, they wasted 45 minutes of my time. )



I come back from Lunch to this:



Carla: Thank you NotReallyMe I am currently checking on your account for me to be able to discuss the subscription details.



3 minutes later ......



Carla: Are you still there NotReallyMe



2 minutes later ......



Carla: Upon Checking here I can see that your Xbox live subscription was purchased on 11/23/2014 (this was after I tried canceling it several times) and will run out on 12/15/2015 since you cancelled the subscription. (WTF my subscription is over a year when I cancel it??? the dates are not a typo)

(It's funny how NOW you have my information ... what was so hard about just doing what I asked right away?)



2 minutes later ......



Carla: I hope I didn't lose you are we still connected



2 minutes later .....



Carla: I haven't heard from you for a while.



2 minutes later ....



Carla: I'm sorry if I seem to be rushing you, but I haven't received a response in a while. I need to disconnect this chat. Thank you for contacting Xbox customer support have a Great Day!!!



--- 20 minutes on chat and this lady could not do the simplest thing or answer the simplest question!!! Are these even people? The typo on dates makes me think it is :swear: ----



tl;dr I hate any company that has auto-renew subscriptions and/or makes it impossible to cancel.
