Pursuing permanent offers with temp in hand

mardi 13 janvier 2015

I've been told to expect an offer from a(non-actuarial but related) temp job Thursday. They said the deadline is going to be really fast(24 hours or less) but it's the best of the temp gigs I have on my plate so I don't mind accepting quickly

It seems the consensus is it's standard to keep looking for permanent while you work temp, but I'm wondering how to handle pursuit of the full time offers that I'm already in the process of interviewing for.

Should I tell them about the temp offer in hopes of speeding up a permanent offer? Or is it better not to tell and leave open the possibility that I get an offer in a few weeks if I come in 2nd/3rd and person #1 declines.

Should I tell them I got a temp offer and will take it but plan to renege for their perm, or will that make me seem disloyal and likely to leave their job fast if something better comes along?

Should I tell the temp agency I plan to keep looking for perm and might renege if one of these perms offers me soon? The hiring company is working with multiple agencies, so I don't think the agency would try to hurt my chances to boost a more dedicated candidate. However, it's a good company headquartered in my preferred location, the position could lead to something long term, and I don't want to start off on a bad foot if none of these full time interviews turn into anything.
