I am a recent FCAS who was asked to provide feedback on All10’s R.A.C.E. and e-Review study preparation tools. I would say both tools provide a stronger exam preparation experience than anything I saw in my time taking CAS exams. Here’s some detail on the benefits of these two tools:
R.A.C.E.
There is a specific art to answering CAS short answer questions. Say too little and you won’t get full credit for the question. Say too much and you’re burning valuable time that could be spent getting points on other questions. R.A.C.E. gives students a methodical strategy to help them give just the right amount of information to earn maximum points on a question without sacrificing valuable time.
The instructional videos not only tell you the best response, but also alert you to common mistakes so you can avoid the same pitfalls other past exam takers have had.
Speed is one of the most important skills required to pass CAS exams, but taking a 4-hour practice exam is not easy to do multiple times before an exam when time is running short. R.A.C.E. gives a method for students to test their knowledge and their speed in a way that is much less time-demanding.
e-Review
e-Review gives students a more flexible way to practice exam taking skills without needing to set aside a 4-hour block of time. Students can either tackle an entire e-Review session all at once or they can break it down into smaller separate pieces. Each session focuses on a sub-section of the syllabus so that you don’t need to wait till after you have studied the entire syllabus before you get down to really practicing the critical step of applying syllabus knowledge to exam conditions. The questions look and feel like authentic CAS exam questions so that you feel very familiar with what you will be asked and what a top-scoring response looks like by the time the real exam comes around.
