About Zak Fischer, FSA, CERA, MAAA
Zak works as a consulting actuary in Chicago, IL, where his work primarily involves hedging variable annuity risk for insurance companies. He graduated from Brown University in 2013 with a bachelor's degree in mathematics and economics, and he became a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries in 2014.
Zak has a strong background as a QFI track exam instructor. He passed his actuarial exams very quickly and works with investment-oriented insurance products as a consulting actuary. Before becoming an actuarial exam instructor, Zak was a teaching assistant for many different college classes, including Computational Probability and Statistics, Investments, Corporate Finance, and Discrete Structures in Mathematics.
I've been working with Zak for over a year, as he's helped us write practice problems in the past. He has always impressed me as someone who gets things done quickly, and he is an excellent communicator -- both verbally and in video. Zak definitely enjoys helping people and making difficult exam concepts more understandable, and I'm happy he's on our team.
Feel free to contact Zak with any questions you have, including how to form a strategy for QFI Core.
- Video lessons covering the entire syllabus

In case you haven't used a TIA product in a while, last year, we completely redesigned the look of our site and made the Lessons page even easier to use. In addition to cosmetic changes, we added the following features:
- Ability to search/filter lessons by keyword
- A rating system for lessons
- Improved navigation controls
- Flagging feature that lets you mark specific lessons and collect them for later viewing (ideal for keeping up with material you struggled with on the first pass)
- A course progress indicator that shows where you stand with respect to other people registered. (This feature can also be turned off if you don't want to know.)
The new design also works great on your favorite tablet or smartphone -- no special mobile site required.
