TurboTax’s Increased Cost Has Some Users Fuming

mercredi 14 janvier 2015

I've been using Turbulent Tax for some number of years now (Costco always has a good deal in January). Now, I read this, from the WSJ (quoted in entirety):

Quote:

Intuit INTU -0.47% has riled up many long-time users of its TurboTax software by requiring taxpayers who file certain common schedules to shift to a more expensive version to prepare their 2014 taxes.

Starting this year, TurboTax customers who want to use the software on their personal computers can’t use the Deluxe version if they want to e-file Schedule C for a business, Schedule D for capital gains and losses, or Schedule E for rental property. Instead, they must buy either the Premier or the Home & Business version of TurboTax, which generally cost at least $30 more.

The reaction against this year’s change has been intense: H&R Block HRB -1.09%, which offers both online and software products that taxpayers used to prepare about seven million returns last year, is offering a free download of its tax-prep software to people who have already purchased TurboTax software for 2014. Taxpayers can email SwitchToBlock@hrblock.com and include proof of purchase of TurboTax 2014 software.

Amazon.com is swamped with negative reviews from folks who're complaining about the move (Amazon customer rating for TT Deluxe: 1.4)

I'm thinking I'll go to Costco and return TT 2014, and then get H&R Deluxe.

Comments? Anyone have any experiences?
