JOB TITLE: Associate Actuary - Risk & Revenue Optimization

BASIC FUNCTION
This position is responsible for the control of pricing, underwriting, statistical, and reserve systems for assigned lines of business; ensuring fulfillment of corporate financial and operational objectives; assuming primary actuarial responsibility for a product, market segment, or line of business; and leading projects or managing lower level actuarial students.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
The following requirements must be met to determine basic eligibility to apply:
* Bachelor Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or similar;
* Associateship in the Society of Actuaries (ASA) and completion of 2 FSA (Fellowship in the Society of Actuaries) exams or recent FSA including completion of the Fellowship Admission Course (FAC). In place of 2 FSA exams, 4 years actuarial experience at the ASA level may be substituted;
* 5 years actuarial experience;
* Demonstrated knowledge & experience in at least 3 of the following areas: Actuarial pricing; underwriting; statistical modeling; analytics; networks; forecasting; and reserve systems;
* Verbal and written communications skills to prepare documentations, facilitate training, manage staff and represent department at internal meetings;
* PC proficiency to include Word and Excel, database, and designing reports.
PREFERRED SKILLS
Preference will be given to candidates with the following skills, experience, knowledge, or education:
* FSA designation;
* 3 years demonstrated lead or supervisory experience strongly preferred;
* Experience with risk and revenue optimization;
* Health actuarial experience;
* SAS, SQL, data mining experience.
REVENUE OPTIMIZATION DEPARTMENT
The revenue optimization department was created in late 2013 to help Health Care Service Corporation (HCSC) compete and win in the risk adjusted environment. The department will generate all modeling, simulations, and analytics needed to accomplish its objectives. Revenue optimization will be ultimately accountable for commercial risk adjustment and will support HCSC's risk strategy and operations.
