I was pulled over last night for a fix-it ticket after a date last night. Cop goes through the usual questions about who I am and what I was doing, asked if I had anything to drink. I told him I had one beer about 2 hours before (100% truth), which resulted in him administering the horizontal gaze sobriety test while I was in the car. I knew I was stone-cold sober, but something must have happened because he asked me to get out and do more tests.
At this point I'm starting to get a little nervous because I had no clue if I'm flunking these tests, and I'm beginning to "feel" guilty even though I know I didn't do anything wrong. His tone of voice was stern, and I almost wanted to ask if I could just blow into a breathalyzer because I knew I couldn't possibly be more than .01 or .02.
Long story short, he eventually sent me on my way with my fix-it ticket. But does anyone have any insight into what was going on? What happened if I failed those tests? Should I have even mentioned that I had a drink when he asked?
