Should people be prosecuted for spreading lies or untruths about vaccinations? Think Jenny McCarthy. She says things about vaccinations that are patently false (that there is a link between vaccinations and autism, that we don't know what's really in them). That just encourages more people to not vaccinate their children. This seems like an issue of public safety. Shouldn't there be a free speech exception in these cases (similar to the exception that you can't yell "fire" in a crowded theater)? I'm not an expert in constitutional law, but wikipedia tells me there's an exception for "false statements of fact" (http://ift.tt/1zgNji8). If some prosecuter decided to pursue this, would it be immediately thrown out? How can we make this happens. If nothing else, it'd be pretty funny.
