As I'm sure many of you are aware, Comcast is essentially the living embodiment of Hell on Earth.
I've obviously had many unpleasant experiences with them, but I am a calm guy and I don't mind repeating the same thing over and over again and dealing with unreasonable timetables and incompetent human beings. All is well.
However, a recent issue is causing considerable unrest, and I'm curious if anyone has any suggestions about what I could do:
A little over 3 months ago, my mom's internet stopped working. After being on the phone for several hours/days, the technician came over, did some stuff to the wires in her cable box, took them out and laid them across her front lawn and sidewalk and fixed it. He told her he'd come back the next day to put the wires back in the ground/box.
He did not come back.
My mom called them, and they said that they'd have someone out within 2-3 weeks as they are really backed up right now.
No one came.
There is a cable wire just chilling across the sidewalk outside her house and lawn (she lives in a townhome). It's basically a pretty significant safety hazard. A neighbor knocked on her door and told her that the neighbor's dog was chewing on the wire and that she needed to put it in the ground.
Since the first call, she's called Comcast about 4 times. Each time, she's on the phone for several hours, they tell her some bullshit, and nothing happens. The wire is still there. She's even said "this is a serious legal liability" and no one cares.
She complained about all this to me and asked me to call them. I did this morning, they gave me the run-around for about an hour, then just randomly hung up on me. So here I am.
Looking for suggestions for how specifically to word the egregiousness of what is going on to get them to take me seriously. Should I pretend I'm a lawyer or that I have a lawyer?
I really am not sure what to do. Like many people, my mom lives in an area where Comcast is a monopoly, so there is nowhere else she can go if she wants internet. Even if there was, she still needs someone to hide this wire.
Any suggestions?
TL;DR: Comcast is awful, causing a safety hazard/legal liability, not fixing it despite numerous calls, what to do?
