What does "familiar" mean when used to describe a candidate's competency with a software or language, compared to other words such as "Working Knowledge" or "Proficient"? I imagine that they lead to ascending expectations of competence.
If a candidate has used a language for work before but is rusty or would need to do some self-study to get back to a working level, would it be appropriate to call one's self familiar with that language? Is there a better word for this, or should it be left off entirely?
