Hello everyone,
I am seeking career advice on my current actuarial path from someone in the benefits industry. I started in February 2014 with a mid-size employee benefits consulting firm in a northeastern city. I do NOT work on pension plans, my work is solely with Other Post-retirement Benefits Plans (OPEB), working on FASB ASC 715-60 and 715-20 Expense and Disclosure reports.
I really do enjoy my job and the people I work with, but I am deeply concerned that the industry is disappearing, I have seen multiple clients freeze their plans in my short time there and many more froze their plans before I started.
Is this a good industry to be in for the super long term? Does anyone see good career opportunities being plentiful?
