It' (un)official, I am on to Exam 6 - What do I need to know

mercredi 19 novembre 2014

That is, I passed Exam MFE yesterday... or so a preliminary analysis of something something appears that I probably passed. So, I'm on to Exam 6.

A guy at work told me TIA is the way to go. Do you agree? Is it the best? Is anything else good?

Do you recommend reading the source materials? I read a thread recently where a few people said they weren't that helpful or they didn't read them. If I were to read some of the source materials, are there any that are better than others? Is the study kit necessary?

Also, in the syllabus, it says Online Course 2 has some background for this exam. Is that necessary? I haven't done either online course yet.

What's up with the Porter text? It's listed twice, once saying excluding certain sections, and then again saying only those sections. Is it one text listed twice?

What's so hard about this exam? I've seen people say it's the hardest up to this point. However, a guy at work said it was pretty easy material. He said, for example, there are some people who could never get the MFE material on Black Scholes and all that. But, anyone can understand this exam. But, he said he wrote and wrote and still had several questions blank. Is the length of the exam the hardest part?

Any strategies I should know about? I have heard a person who uses bullet points instead of paragraphs so he can write faster and actually finish. Good idea?

Thanks for any help!
