Okay, maybe not the power. But you can enter the SOA's Speculative Fiction Contest by writing a story and submitting it according to the directions at this link or read further:
As a past participant (and winner), I can ensure that the contest is fun, exciting, and always entertaining.

The 11th Speculative (and Inspiring) Fiction Contest
Science fiction writers have been predicting the future for years. Jules Verne predicted the submarine in 1863 in the book Paris in the Twentieth Century. H. G. Wells predicted the atomic bomb in 1914 in The World Set Free. George Orwell predicted government control and oversight in 1948 with 1984. Even Robert Heinlein predicted the use of waterbeds in 1961 in Stranger in a Strange Land.
In our previous 10 Speculative Fiction Contests we have asked you for similar predictions, but in the area of actuarial science. Some discussion of this interesting skill at predicting the future in science fiction made me realize that I shouldnt be asking you to predict the future, but to inspire and create the future of actuarial science. When Motorola invented the flip-phone, it was not predicted by the Star Trek TV shows, but inspired through the engineers that were Trekkies! The writers that enter this contest are the most creative actuaries on this planet. Now it is time for you to inspire new methods in actuarial science and create areas of study that will advance actuarial knowledge and improve decision making to benefit society!!
Get started on this inspirational journey by putting your idea in the form of an exciting story, one that any reader will start reading, and not put down until the details have been digested. Send me a copy of the story, so I can share it with the world and inspire the future for actuarial students not yet born! At the same time, encourage all of your fellow actuaries to share their ideas through this contest, too!! Together we will create our actuarial future!!
Enter the 11th Actuarial Speculative Fiction contest proudly sponsored again this year by the Society of Actuaries Technology Section, the Actuary of the Future Section, and the Forecasting & Futurism Section, the three sections that help us prepare for our actuarial future!! Our actuarial future comes faster and faster every day, so join the list of authors who are going to create and inspire that future!!
The rules for this writing contest are very simple so as to not interfere with creativity:
The story must include some sort of actuarial topic (how else to change the actuarial future?).
The author must have passed at least one SOA actuarial exam.
The story should be less than 6,000 words (if I have to count the words, you are using too many).
For those looking for another incentive to change the actuarial world, there are prizes in this contest!
Best overall story................$ 200
Second best overall story.....$ 100
Section Council Awards:
Most unique use of technology in a story.........................$50
Best story emphasizing forecasting or futurism methods......$50

Readers favorite story ......................A technological surprise!
The best and second best overall story entries will be determined and commented on by Dr. Bob Mielke, Professor of English at Truman State University, with additional comments by your contest organizer, Gary Lange. The awards presented by each Section, most unique use of technology in a story, best story emphasizing forecasting or futurism methods, and most creative actuarial career of the future, will be chosen by that Section Council, so be smart and read up on each Section at soa.org.
The contest begins with this announcement and ends January 31, 2015. Winners will be announced on April 1, 2015. Submit all entries to garyslange@yahoo.com . Each entry will be published online at the Society of Actuaries web site, and is subject to the Official Rules .
