Is it unwise to pass more than two exams before your first job?

vendredi 23 janvier 2015

I graduated from college in December. A couple months before I graduated, actuarial recruiters visited our school. I talked with one of them about general advice after I graduated.

I asked him if it would be wise to study for the third exam and attempt to pass it while also looking for jobs once I graduated. He said that that is not a good idea, because passing a third exam without any actual experience forces them to pay you more than the applicants that have only passed the first two, and this effectively prices you out of the competition.

What do others think of this idea? I am currently looking for entry-level work and have passed the first two. Do you think this is good advice and that I should hold out on passing the third?
