Scenario: F***up impregnated by even bigger F***up, set to have the baby (no abortion).
I maintain the best chance for this kid to have a normal life is anonymous adoption, by a loving family if it exists, and never knowing their true parents until an appropriate age, say 25.
My wife seems to think that if (when) the parents can't handle it any longer, that another family member raising the kid is better than adoption.
Her argument is that blood relatives are better, and the kid will never know it's relatives (and vice versa) with adoption. I maintain that the kid will know all their relatives, of course not blood, but what does that matter. This kid will be raised by their grandparents, and who knows what role the parents will have. That just seems very disfunctional and I think the kid will be a hell of lot better off not knowing who their parents are, and of course how big of F***ups they are.
